General Questions & Answers
What is AutoSecuro.ch and for which vehicles?
AutoSecuro.ch is a warranty extension for your vehicle once your manufacturer’s warranty has expired. The warranty extension protects you from unexpected repair costs on important vehicle components such as the engine and transmission.
Generally for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles as well as for motorcycles with petrol or diesel engines. Our product range is continuously being developed, and further vehicles and other drive types are currently being implemented.
Is AutoSecuro.ch an insurance?
No. AutoSecuro.ch is a warranty or repair-cost solution for defined components in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions, which you can view at any time via the link at the very bottom of this website.
Can I register my vehicle with AutoSecuro.ch at any time?
Yes, provided that the admission requirements are met and the vehicle has passed inspection successfully.
Can I take out a warranty extension for several vehicles?
Yes, you can take out warranty extensions for as many vehicles (cars and/or motorcycles) as you like.
All your contracts are displayed in your customer account.
Is there a customer login?
Yes, via the customer account https://my.autosecuro.ch you can view and manage all contracts, claims, payments, invoices, etc.
Why should I take out a warranty extension for my vehicles?
Because modern engines and transmissions can cause repair costs of CHF 3’000 to over CHF 15’000. AutoSecuro.ch protects you from these unexpected financial burdens.
Is it only for private individuals or also for companies?
AutoSecuro.ch offers its services to both private individuals and companies.
Requirements for admission
How old may my vehicle be and is there a limit regarding mileage?
Vehicles are eligible up to 20 years from first registration. The limit is 200’000 km for cars and 80’000 km for motorcycles. In all cases our General Terms and Conditions apply.
As soon as you enter the reference number from your vehicle registration document during the registration process, i.e. before concluding the contract, the web interface will show you whether the warranty extension is possible.
Does my vehicle have to be inspected and who bears the costs?
It depends: if the last roadworthiness test by the road traffic office falls within the waiting period of 6 months, then no.
Otherwise, proof is required that the vehicle is in perfect condition and roadworthy. In this case, the vehicle must be inspected by an approved AutoSecuro partner garage or an independent testing body such as the TCS. The vehicle owner bears the costs for this.
We are happy to assist you with this if you wish.
What is checked during the vehicle inspection?
- Engine
- Transmission
- Electronics
- Fluid leaks
- Stored fault codes
- Service history
- General vehicle condition
Can I register my vehicle even if a defect already exists?
No. Already known or existing damage is excluded from the warranty.
Do I need a service booklet?
A complete service booklet is important for the warranty extension because it confirms that you have always carried out the vehicle’s services in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Maintenance and servicing
Do I have to keep to the service intervals? Am I allowed to do the service myself?
Yes, all maintenance intervals prescribed by the manufacturer must be observed.
Since the maintenance work must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, it must also be performed and documented by qualified specialist garages.
Do I have to keep all invoices?
Yes. All maintenance and repair invoices should be kept for the entire duration of the contract.
After the waiting period, am I allowed to use any garage for a repair?
Yes, provided the garage works professionally and issues a proper invoice in accordance with the submitted quote.
What the warranty extension covers
Which components do the warranty extensions apply to? Are labour costs and a replacement vehicle included as well?
Components naturally differ between cars and motorcycles; you will find the full list of components in Section 2 of the General Terms and Conditions.
The warranty extension covers material costs only.
Are wear parts covered and what counts as wear parts?
No. Wear parts are generally excluded. Typical wear parts are:
- Brakes
- Clutch
- Tyres
- Windscreen wipers
- Batteries
- Light bulbs
Are consequential damages covered and is there a maximum compensation?
Consequential damages are covered if they arise directly from a warranty claim; the maximum compensation amounts vary per product and are set out in the General Terms and Conditions.
Is there a deductible in the event of a repair?
At AutoSecuro.ch we do not have a deductible within the maximum compensation per claim in this form. The maximum compensation amounts refer to the material costs; see also our General Terms and Conditions.
What do I do if something breaks?
What do I have to do if damage occurs, and when? What is required?
The same as if you had no warranty extension, namely contact your garage as quickly as possible and have the vehicle taken there, or if possible drive there yourself.
After that, go to your customer account at AutoSecuro.ch and report the problem. Everything else is then handled between AutoSecuro.ch, you and your garage.
You must do all of this immediately after the problem occurs.
The necessary documents are listed below, and everything always runs through the AutoSecuro.ch web interface.
- Vehicle registration document
- Service booklet
- Diagnostic report
- Cost estimate
- Photos or videos
Am I allowed to have the repair carried out immediately? How long does processing take?
Before the repair is carried out, AutoSecuro.ch must have the opportunity to speak directly with the garage and to inspect the car on site through its own specialist. The repair may only be carried out after approval by AutoSecuro.ch.
Processing usually takes 24 to 72 hours after all documents have been received.
Who pays the garage?
We deal only with you as the customer and pay the amount out to you, based on the garage’s detailed invoice. The garage’s invoice is made out to you and paid by you.
What if I have damage abroad?
Then you will have the vehicle transported back to Switzerland through your insurance; from that point on, the normal process applies as described on this website and in the General Terms and Conditions.
Are there any exclusions?
When would a payment on the part of AutoSecuro.ch be refused?
We want to be a reliable partner for you. Nevertheless, there are areas for which we cannot accept responsibility. These are in particular:
- Pre-existing damage
- Wear and tear
- Missing maintenance
- Motorsport use
- Tampered mileage
- Improper repairs
- Intentional damage
- Tuning-related damage
- Damage caused by overheating when continuing to drive despite a warning light
what about damage related to accidents, martens, tuning, flooding and other natural events?
These are all part of insurance claims. AutoSecuro is not an insurance company but exclusively offers warranty extensions.

Contract term
Is there a waiting period and, if so, how long?
Yes, a waiting period of a maximum of 6 months from the start of the contract applies, or, where it differs, the waiting period shown in the respective warranty extension.
This waiting period exists so that you can prove that the vehicle is in perfect condition and has been driven during the waiting period.
After the waiting period has expired and all admission requirements have been met, the warranty extension applies in full.
Does the contract renew automatically? Can I cancel the contract?
You can cancel the warranty extension at any time in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions. If you do not, the contract is automatically renewed for another year.
