General questions & answers
What is Autosecuro?
Autosecuro offers transparent warranty extensions for material costs with a clearly defined scope of services.
For which vehicles are services offered?
Cars and motorcycles, each according to the acceptance guidelines of the respective warranty extension.
Does the contract renew automatically? Can I cancel the contract?
You can cancel the extended warranty at any time in accordance with the terms and conditions, and you will be notified by email four months before the automatic renewal. If you do not cancel the contract, it will automatically renew for another year.
Can I transfer the contract when I sell the vehicle?
No. If you sell the vehicle, the extended warranty will be cancelled outside the normal timeframe. Should the new owner wish to purchase a new extended warranty, they can do so independently at any time through Autosecuro.
Are wear parts also covered?
No. Wear parts are excluded from the extended warranty.
How do I report damage?
The damage must be reported and approved according to the damage process before repairs begin.
When does the extended warranty begin? Is there a waiting period?
According to the contract, the extended warranty begins after the waiting period has expired.
Is there a customer login?
Yes, you can view and check all contracts, damages, payments, invoices, etc. via your customer account at https://my.autosecuro.ch.
Can I purchase an extended warranty for multiple vehicles?
Yes, you can purchase extended warranties for any number of vehicles (cars and/or motorcycles). All your contracts will be displayed in your customer account.
Why does an extended warranty make sense?
Because, according to our statistics, defective vehicles can incur high repair costs, which in the case of extensive damage can range from CHF 5,000 to CHF 15,000, potentially leading to the total devaluation of your vehicle – meaning you would then either have to write off the car completely or sell it to an exporter for very little money. Autosecuro protects you from these unexpected financial burdens and covers the material damage.
Is it only for private individuals or also for companies?
Autosecuro offers its services to both private individuals and companies.
Requirements for admission
How old can my vehicle be and is there a mileage limit?
Vehicles are covered for up to 20 years from their initial registration. The mileage limit is 200,000 km for cars and 80,000 km for motorcycles. Our general terms and conditions apply. Once you enter the vehicle registration number (VIN) from your vehicle registration document during the registration process, i.e., before concluding the contract, the web interface will indicate whether the warranty extension is possible.
Does my vehicle need to be inspected, and who bears the costs?
Yes. Of course, proof is required that the vehicle is in perfect working order and roadworthy. Accordingly, the vehicle must be inspected by an authorized Autosecuro partner (a link to the list is available in the footer of the Autosecuro website). The costs for this are minimal and are borne by the vehicle owner.
What is checked during a vehicle inspection?
Those parts of the vehicle for which you have purchased an extended warranty.
Can I register my vehicle even if it already has a defect?
Yes, however, you will have to pay for the repair yourself. Pre-existing or known damage is excluded from the warranty.
Maintenance and upkeep
Do I have to adhere to the service intervals? Am I allowed to perform the service myself?
Yes, from the moment the contract is signed, all maintenance intervals prescribed by the manufacturer must be adhered to. Furthermore, since the maintenance must be carried out according to the manufacturer’s instructions, it must also be performed and documented by qualified specialist companies.
Do I need to keep all the invoices?
From the time the contract is signed, all maintenance and repair invoices should be kept for the entire duration of the contract, as these serve as proof that the maintenance prescribed by the manufacturer has been carried out.
Am I allowed to use any garage for repairs after the grace period?
Yes, provided the garage works professionally and issues a proper invoice in accordance with the submitted offer.
What does the extended warranty cover?
Which components are covered by the extended warranties? Is labor time also included? (thus the labor costs)and includes a replacement vehicle?
Components differ between cars and motorcycles; please refer to the respective warranty extension on the website or our terms and conditions. The warranty extension covers only material costs, up to the maximum amount specified in the respective service.
Are consequential damages covered and are there maximum compensation limits?
Consequential damages are covered if they arise directly from a warranty claim; the maximum compensation varies per product and is included in the terms and conditions.
Is there a deductible in the event of a repair?
No, with Autosecuro there is no deductible within the maximum compensation as per the contract. The maximum compensation refers to material costs; please also see our General Terms and Conditions.
What do I need to do in case of damage?
What do I need to do if damage occurs, and when? What is required?
As usual, contact your garage as soon as possible and have the vehicle towed there, or if possible, drive it there yourself. Then, log into your customer account at Autosecuro and report the problem. Everything else will then be handled between Autosecuro, you, and your garage. You must do this immediately after the problem occurs.
Can I have the repair done immediately? How long will the process take?
Before any repairs can be carried out, Autosecuro must have the opportunity to speak directly with the garage owner and have the car inspected on-site by one of its own Autosecuro specialists. The repair may only be carried out after Autosecuro has given its approval. Processing typically takes 3 to 48 hours after receipt of all required documents.
Who pays for the garage?
The material costs will be invoiced to Autosecuro by your garage. If Autosecuro has already delivered the materials to your garage, then no further invoice will be sent to Autosecuro.
What happens if I have a claim abroad?
Then you will have the vehicle transported back to Switzerland via your insurance company; from then on, the normal process applies as described on this website and in the terms and conditions.
Are there any exclusions?
When will Autosecuro avert a payment?
We want to be a reliable partner for you. Nevertheless, there are areas for which we cannot accept responsibility. These are in particular:
- Pre-existing damage
- Wear and tear
- Missing maintenance
- Motorsport use
- Tampered mileage
- Improper repairs
- Intentional damage
- Tuning-related damage
- Damage caused by overheating when continuing to drive despite a warning light
What about damage related to accidents, martens, modifications, floods, and other natural events?
These are all components of insurance claims. Autosecuro is not an insurance company but exclusively offers extended warranties.
